Hello everyone. I hope you all are doing well. Last Sunday Lisa started having a weird feeling in her right arm and hand so she went to San Jacinto Methodist on Monday for a MRI. The MRI showed a common development with lung cancer patients in that she has two small spots on her brain. Don't freak on me at this point, keep reading.
As I have told a few friends, it's at this point that people grimace. Let me reassure you, it's okay. We are very positive that this is only a bump in the road to Lisa's full remission. As I said earlier, this is a common occurrence with lung cancer patients.
Lisa and Johnny spoke to her doctors at The Cancer Center Treatment of America in Tulsa and they have reassured them that this is the easiest location to radiate and then it almost never comes back. Lisa asked her doctors why the chemo from her last visit didn't keep the cancer from going to her brain. They answered that the brain almost never responds to chemo until its been radiated.
So she and Johnny are now in Tulsa beginning her full brain radiation to be followed up with TOMA radiation on the two spots.
We still do not have results on her last visit but will let you know when we do.
So, please, as people begin to hear about this and begin to talk about it, reassure them this is not a doomsday. It is only a bump in the road. Lisa's spirits are good and she is ready to get the treatments going! Love to all, Dee Anne
